Hey Artists,

Thanks for your interest in participating in Toy to the World Project 2017, apologies for the delayed reply we're currently travelling abroad and have limited access to internet.

Please read the following carefully.

The event will launch this year on:
SECTION 8, Tattersalls Ln. Melbourne CBD

Local (Melb/Vic) artists should collect their toy on the launch/design day, or have someone collect it for them, it is $10 to enter, this can be refunded when the completed toy is returned to the project for exhibition, or can be donated to the project/VAC.

Interstate/International artists will need to cover postage.

If you would like to pre-pay your entry to reserve a toy please reply to this email requesting an invoice, with the number of bears and size you'd like to complete (if you'd like to pay on the design day - Local Only - just rock up to Section8 after 12pm - subject to availability priority given to pre-paid entries - we cannot guarantee there will be toys left for you without pre-payment):

Local artists may either commence work on their toy at the Design Day using paint and markers we supply (we can only supply a small amount though, so we recommend bringing some from home if you're set on a certain result OR they may take their toy home to complete and return by mail or in person by OCTOBER 1st 2017. (please note if you commence work on the Design Day you do not have to complete on the Design Day)

*if sending by mail we recommend ensuring your paint job is dry and wrapping in bubble wrap
Artists wishing to paint at Section8 will get access to space on a first in, best dressed basis, spaces are limited, we start at 12pm and go til 5pm (at which point if you're not finished you can take your bear home to complete) - this live painting social workshop kind of day has been a heaps of fun in past, even if you're not painting we encourage you to hang out for a bit, have a drink, listen to some tunes, check out what the competition are up to - please note there will be some art supplies provided but you are encouraged to bring your own.

TOY TO THE WORLD is a charity event and does ask that Artists donate their completed toy to the exhibition that is held in October to be auctioned to raise funds for the Victorian AIDS Council, in the good spirit of the project we trust artists to use and return supplies at the design day as well as return their toy bears, however we have had some toys go all Toy Story and wonder off on us, so the $10 deposit cannot be returned until after we receive a returned toy with completed entry form (supplied with toy).

The Exhibition/Auction will launch in October, the exhibition will occur in Melbourne for 4 days, the Auction will run online for 2 weeks from the exhibition opening date. All artists will be notified of exact dates and venue of the exhibitionWINNERS OF THE COMPETITION ASPECT will be announced at the OPENING NIGHT of the exhibition and prizes awarded.

We have 150 x 5 inch toys, artists can complete a max. of 2 but are required to pay the $10 (refundable) deposit per bear.

We also have 40 x 10 inch and 20 x 15 inch larger toy bears, these toys are available first come first served and require both a deposit (refunded upon return of bear - or can be donated to the charity) AND a non-refundable payment as detailed above, if you are interested in transforming one of these larger toys, you must pre-register and pre-pay (a PayPal invoice will be supplied)

Finally there are no limits to how you modify your toy, you are not limited to paint and markers, you can mould, morph, add, attach, sculpt, spray, speckle, scratch, cut, carve and glue.

Please reply to this email to request your invoice to commit to a bear.

Thank you,
